CRAWFORD COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARMENT PRESS RELEASE
December 11, 2002
ARRESTS: The following subjects have been charged with a crime but are presumed innocent until proven guilty;
Seth S. Cooley, age 29, Martinsville, IL was arrested 12-8-02 on a criminal complaint for domestic battery. Subject posted bond of $100 cash and is to appear in court oin 1-10-03 at 9:00 a.m.
Desarae S. Mendenhall, age 22, Robinson, was arrested 12-6-02 on a local warrant for charge of FTA /UL poss. of Drug para/unisured vehicle/no valid regis/no front plant and driving while license suspended. Subject was released on recognizance bond and is to appear in court on 1-6-03 at 9:00 a.m.
Joshua A. Clark, age 22, Lewisport, KY was arrested 12-6-02 on a local warrant for charge of FTA or Pay/Criminal Trespass to land. Subject posted bond of $100 cash and is to appear in court on 12-30-02 at 9:00 a.m.
Justin B. Thurman, age 22, Hutsonville, was arrested 12-6-02 on a local warrant for charge of FTA/DUI. Sujbect posted $500 cash bond and is to appear in court on 12-30-02 at 9:00 a.m.
At Approx. 1:15 p.m. on Friday December 6, 2002 the Crawford County Sheriff's Department and the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force, with assistance from the Crawford County States Attorney's Office, executed a court authorized search warrant of the Gary A. Dunlap residence. This residence is located at 20602 East River Road, Palestine. Law Enforcement Officials obtained custody of quantities of methamphetamine, cannabis, cash and firearms. Officials also discovered evidence of meth manufacturing. Gary A. Dunlap was taken into custody and later charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance, unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of methamphetamine manufacturing chemicals, unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance and unlawful chemical breakdown of an illicit controlled substance. Dunlap is currently being held at the Crawford County Jail under $150,000.00 bond with 10% applying.
Officials of the Crawford County Sheriff's Department consider this arrest of Gary Dunlap as a step in shutting down a major drug manufacturer and distributor in Crawford County.
